
Congratulations to Toni Falusi
Toni Falusi has been empowering teachers with the confidence and skills to confidently teach Information Technology in the classroom in accordance the Australian Curriculum in ACT schools. Whilst also supporting and providing advice to the syllabus writing of the curriculum. Additionally Toni has assisted many schools in creating effective teaching programs in digital technologies that will provide students with the necessary skills to conquer this modern technology world.
In 2015/16 Toni volunteered her time at curious minds girls in STEM program, where she has been the deputy director, head of the STEM coaching program and IT subject lead. Toni succesfully supported 421 girls/non-binary students mostly from regional, remote and rural areas to realise their potential and encourage careers in STEM. Each student is provided with a STEM career mentor which Toni spends majority of the year carefully curating these pairing to ensure that the student and mentor share similar interests and goals. This attention to detail has resulted in 77% of the students participating in the career program intending to, studying or having a career in STEM. Through Toni’s efforts in this program and support has caused participants to be 3.5 times more likely to study IT due to the success of the mentorship relationships.
Additionally Toni is currently the President of IT teachers association of the ACT and has been actively involved within this group for seven years. Toni has been involved since it’s incorporation six or seven years ago
Toni spends her school holidays assisting student supervision at the National Computer Science School and helping teacher professional learning for teachers and students. Toni is an activity participant at the Curious Minds girls in STEM camp as the digital technologies subject lead.

WIC is a Canberra-based not-for-profit organisation bringing people together to champion women in Information and Communication. Our vision is to be the premier organisation for women in Information and Communication in Canberra. As part of this vision, WIC has set up the WICked Woman of the Year. The award will be presented at the WIC Award Evening on the 8th of March 2022 at our Annual Dinner Debate Evening.

The WICked Woman Award showcases a leader in our community who, through their actions and achievements, exemplifies the powerful contribution that women make in ICT and who contributes to the ongoing advancement of gender equity more broadly.
WICKed Woman nominees are recognised as women who have made a significant contribution to the ICT industry, acting as a role models or mentors to other women and who continue to encourage women into the industry.
The WICked Woman Award past winners have represented the Canberra business, government, and academic industries.
