We will be celebrating the contributions of women to our community and particularly recognising fantastic achievements of women in the ICT industry. \n Debate Topic: “Tiktok is a really great news service”\nThe annual debate evening provides the Canberra community with the opportunity to socialise\, network and enjoy an entertaining night of riotous laughter as our debate teams take a light hearted approach to the topic “Tiktok is a really great news service”. \nGuest of Honour – The Hon Karen Andrews MP \nWIC is delighted to announce Minister for Home Affairs the Hon Karen Andrews MP as the guest of honour at our annual WIC Dinner Debate on International Women’s Day\, Tuesday 8 March. \nAs Australia’s first female Minister for Home Affairs and a former Minister for Industry\, Science and Technology\, Minister Andrews has been a leading champion for Australian women in ICT and STEM over many years. \nWe look forward to Minister Andrews’ contribution to this event drawing from her experiences in politics and as a qualified engineer as we celebrate achievements in the WIC community and support Women in ICT and STEM initiatives. \n\n\n\nAward Presentation \nIn addition to our fabulous debate\, we will celebrate the achievements of stellar women in the ICT Industry through the presentation of ‘WICked Woman of the Year’ award. We will award the ‘Defying Gravity’ award which recognises a local woman as an emerging talent in the ICT industry. \nWe will also announce the winner of the Male Champion of Change award which gives thanks to a strong male ally for promoting gender equality in the ICT industry. \nStudent Award \nWe will also announce the winner of the Kate Muir Student Encouragement Award.
