Annual Report 23-24

This year, WIC achieved remarkable milestones in advancing its mission to remove barriers and promote equality for women in Australia’s ICT sector. The organization extended its reach significantly through various impactful programs and events.

The Work Experience (WEx) Connection Program was a standout initiative, shining a light on opportunities for young women to explore careers in technology. WIC also expanded its events calendar, introducing a senior women’s leadership network and hosting special interest events like the Wolfson gathering. These efforts underscore WIC’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive community for women in ICT.

Recognition for women’s contributions to IT was another highlight of the year. WIC’s prestigious awards celebrated inspiring women at all career stages, reinforcing its role as a champion for women’s achievements in technology. Networking breakfasts with female tech leaders provided platforms for professional growth and collaboration, with our theme “Bringing Others Along” inspiring attendees.

Annual showcase events, including the International Women’s Day celebrations and the Patrons’ lunches, further solidified WIC’s position as a leader in advocating for gender diversity in ICT. Notably, the Annual WIC Dinner Debate remained a key social and professional highlight in Canberra’s calendar.

WIC’s advocacy efforts reached new heights, culminating in an invitation to Parliament House on International Women’s Day to acknowledge its impactful work. Financially, WIC maintained a strong foundation with total income of $195,601, primarily from sponsorships and memberships, allowing for the allocation of significant resources to events and programs.

The organization expressed deep gratitude to its community and supporters for making these achievements possible, underscoring its ongoing dedication to addressing the “leaky pipeline” of women in ICT careers.
