WIC Work Experience Connection Program 2025: Empowering Future ICT Leaders!

We are thrilled to announce the successful kick-off of the third year of our impactful Work Experience Connection Program!

This year, we are proud to have placed an impressive 44 talented young women and non-binary students across 22 generous host organisations. These students will be gaining invaluable real-world experience in ICT-related fields between the end of July and the end of October.

The WIC Work Experience Connection Program is designed to inspire and encourage young women and non-binary students in Years 9 to 12 to pursue further studies and exciting careers in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Through five-day work experience placements, participants gain firsthand insight into the dynamic world of ICT, helping to debunk myths and present it as a fun and rewarding career path.

Our program facilitates a comprehensive process, from initial school expressions of interest and student applications, to workshops focused on work readiness and career confidence. The WIC Boards plays a crucial role in assisting students with their applications and connecting them with organisations that align with their interests and career aspirations. The anticipated outcomes of this program are transformative. Participants develop a more positive perception of ICT careers, enhance their self-confidence, build connections with industry professionals, and gain a clearer understanding of what a career in ICT truly entails. Ultimately, we aim for more young women and non-binary individuals to embark on further studies and successful careers in this vital industry.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all our host organisations for their invaluable support and commitment to nurturing the next generation of ICT professionals. Your dedication makes this program possible and profoundly impacts the lives of these students. We also want to thank our entire membership base for your ongoing support of the program. Together, we are making a significant difference in shaping a diverse and inclusive future for the ICT sector.
